Between Hope and Chaos: The Future of the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System) and the New Generation of Healthcare Professionals

The Unified Health System (SUS) is a landmark of Brazilian citizenship, consolidated as a universal public policy that ensures the right to health. However, the contemporary scenario challenges its continuity in the face of precarious work, scarcity of resources, and devaluation of the profession. This article aims to analyze the perspectives of the SUS from the viewpoint of the new generation of health professionals, discussing the ethical, social, and political challenges that permeate the daily practice of care. This is a qualitative and bibliographical research, based on Brazilian authors who address critical training, humanization, and participatory management. The results indicate that the future of the SUS depends on the ability of its professionals to combine technique, empathy, and political commitment, reaffirming care as an existential and social dimension. It concludes that the symbolic and practical reconstruction of the system is a civilizational imperative, in which hope is transformed into a force of resistance and innovation.
